Getting to know you BINGO! - Back to School.

This resource is aimed at Year 2 and KS2. It can also be adapted and used for KS3. It is a PowerPoint containing two slides that have been changed to A4 paper size for easy printing. The aim of the game is to answer the questions about their favourite things and fill in the grid. Then move around the room and ask their classmates what their favourite things are. When they find someone with the same answer as them they can tick/cross it off. When they have found a line they have won Bingo! It can also be discussed to people who didn’t find someone with the same interests as them how important and unique they are because they are different. It is a fun little activity that get the students talking to each other and moving around the classroom. The second slide is an easier version of the game with less words and including pictures so everyone can be included in the game.

Treasure chest back to school activity

This resource is aimed at Year 1,2,3,4,5 and 6. It could also be used in KS3 as a short back to school/getting to know you activity. This resource contains a powerpoint with the dimension set to A4 size for easy printing. It has one slide with a worksheet to encourage pupils to think about what is important to them. They will draw or write things to put in their “treasure chest”. This can then be a sharing activity so they pupils find out more about each other and themselves. The teacher and TA could also do one so the pupils learn more about you. There is also a PowerPoint on my store that goes with this resource called “Back to School”.

Back to school introduction PowerPoint

This resource is aimed at year 2, 3 or 4 students but can be adapted for younger or older students. It is an editable PowerPoint that can be used as in introduction into the new year with a few games for getting to know the new teacher, new students and reinforcing school rules and class rules and expectations. This PowerPoint consists of five slides. The first is an editable title/welcome slide where you can put pictures of what your class will be learning this year to make it exciting and show them what they can look forward to. The second and third slide is a small activity about a treasure box. The teacher will have objects special to them in their treasure box and the students can use this to work out things about them. The students are then encouraged to think what would go in their “treasure box”. They can do this as a discussion and sharing task or as a worksheet (one will be for sale on here) and draw objects in the treasure box. The forth slide includes another getting to know you game which encourages the students to go around the room and talk to each other. The fifth slide is about school rules, reminding the rules and discussing why they are important.

Dream Jars worksheet: Back to school/Start of new year activity

(0)
This resource is aimed at a range of year groups and can be adapted accordingly. It is used to set goals at the beginning of the year as a class or as an individual. It follows the Roald Dahl story of the BFG who collects dreams in jars. This worksheet can be used alongside watching the video or getting creative and making your own glittery, decorated dream jars. The idea is for the students to come up with a goal or ambition for the year ahead and save it in their dream jar. This could also be used for small group or nurture activities. This resource includes three powerpoint slides that are set to A4 size for easy printing. The first one includes the sheet with no lines for students to draw pictures in. The second is the same sheet but with wide spaced lines and the third with smaller spaced lines. This activity should take 10 - 20 minutes to complete.
